the Begining and the End

I recieved an e-mail on my (insert social network here) page about military bloging. I guess I'm alittle late to the game, but that's alright. I'll give it a shot anyways...
I get off active duty in 9 glorious days. I've counted down to this day for the past 2years almost.
Let's take alook at the things I've gained:
-26months in combat
-$12,000 left to pay on a car
- skills i can't use except in combat
-3 herniated disks in my back

There's some other things like some of the best people in the world that have been backs up against the wall with me who I'll lose contact with in about a year or so. (statistics prove it) I screwed up one GREAT relationship and ended another because I just don't fit in.

This will end up being a blog about my adaptation and into the civilian world and how it seems that no matter what happens, the ex-military will always be halfway shit upon and never really thanked.

  2. Hello Fox 3,
Sounds like you have had a rough go of it lately, but soon you will be out of the Army and starting a new chapter in your life. I hope you find blogging about your experiences will be helpful in some way. As you will soon discover, blogging is a different kind of animal. It allows for venting, ranting, raving, postulating, hypothesizing, and provides us all with a giant soap box. It can be cathartic and therapeutic and you'll get lots of advice, whether you want it or not. Sometimes it feels a little strange telling people things you normally wouldn't share with a bunch of strangers, but, you will also find those strangers offer lots of support and encouragement. And soon those strangers may become friends.

I am so sorry to hear that you have hurt your back. Now there is a story you can tell. Your first post makes me want to ask you a lot of questions, but, I've already written too much, which is sort of what I do. :)

Take care Fox 3....I look forward to reading your posts.

  3. Keep writing. It seems to be one of those healthy things to do. Welcome home. Don't let the civilians make you to crazy. Getting used to us seems to be one of the hardest parts. Keep in mind that we are not all clueless and we really are grateful to you and for you and no you probably never can be thanked enough, because we ask to much.
    take very good care,
    marian
